Ashtanga Yoga for Beginners

Ashtanga Yoga for Beginners is an on-going, twice weekly class geared for students new to yoga or new to the Ashtanga method.  Students will be introduced to the opening poses of the Primary or First Series, of Ashtanga Yoga, called Yoga Chikitsa, which is aimed at aligning the body and purifying the internal organs. These classes will begin with gentle breathing that creates both relaxation and warmth in the body, followed by the sun salutations, and the fundamental standing poses that give strength and flexibility to the legs and waist.  Following the standing sequence, students will learn several seated poses that strengthen the back and increase the flexibility of the hips and legs, and then close with a short seated meditation and final resting pose, Savasana.
